“They say the pen is mightier than the sword, but you never really appreciate it until you’ve seen Eliza put one through a rival’s jugular.”
An elf of the noble caste, Eliza was raised to be a lady and bring further wealth and prestige to her family. However, from an early age she possessed a great curiosity about the world beyond the borders of the empire, and she would often sneak off to the library between garden parties and dueling lessons to read stories of far-away lands. When she came of age, she was sent to the Academy, where her talents for research and scholarship quickly distinguished her from her peers. She was offered a position with the Academy upon graduation, and shocked her family and fellow scholars by applying to be professor of non-Elven studies, a position that had been vacant for several decades.
Eliza was a laughingstock in the academic community and a shame to her family, but to the surprise of all she quickly rose up the ranks at the Academy due to both the quality of her writing and her skill with a blade. A few years into her career she had killed so many of her fellow professors in duels that she was put on an enforced sabbatical and sent to Marn to research the human population that came there to trade with the elves. It was there that she first met Eabha and her friends, and functioned as their guide through elven society. This brought her to the attention of the Elven Hierarch, who recruited her to be his liaison in his efforts to keep Eabha out of the hands of the Inquisition.
